It ended with a forward roll August 22nd 2009. Veszprém, Hungary Hungarian Baja, Saturday
For Erik Korda and György Tóth the Hungarian Baja ended after a forward somersault at the fourth speed leg of the race. After the accident, the duo got out of the car with a few smaller bruises.
The Korda Racing duos will definitely not eulogize the events of the Hungarian Baja on Saturday, since none of its Nissan teams managed to finish the race without turning over. Erik Korda and György Tóth started the day from the overall first place of the Hungarian Championship evaluation, but they did not get far, because they turned over during the third selective stage, and were therefore forced to give up the race. After the accident, Erik was complaining about back pains, so he was taken to the hospital in Veszprém, but fortunately, apart from a few bruises, he was not seriously hurt either.
Pál Lónyai got a bit from everything off the colorful palette of off-road rallying: On his second race ever, he turned over on the first day, he was speeding in dust and blinding sunshine, his car was even rammed from behind, but the guys were still not discouraged. However, when the undercarriage broke, they had to finish the race, too.
Zoltán Apáthy and Zoltán Morvai were the lucky ones of the day. Although they turned over as well, they got away with a smaller penalty according to the "for fight" rules, so they could continue the race and get over the finish line.
There cannot be any complaints about the team's only quad driver, László Fekete, who became first among the Hungarian quad division and overall 15th in the international field!
Erik Korda: - First of all I would like to thank everyone who were worried and called me, apart from minor back pains I am OK! There is not much to say, it was too much and we screwed it up! There were two bumps at the end of a long straight track, and I took a rather plucky breaking distance, wherefore the car's backside shot in the air at the second bump and we turned head over upside down. The second the car landed on its roof, the safety belt jerked me and I think I strained my back, because it hurts ever since. In the hospital it turned out that nothing was broken, and that it would be difficult to sit for a few days, but otherwise everything was OK. Fortunately, Gyuri left the car completely unharmed, he is not hurt at all. The car was not damaged seriously either, of course it needs some polish and the oil-cooler is broken too, but all in all, there is no big problem. We are very sorry that it ended like that, because we enjoyed every second of the race!
Pál Lónyai: - Although we have been having problems all the way through and did not manage to roll over the finish line, which had been our major aim, we have been having a great time at this race. I am just getting acquainted with this sport, and I think the Hungarian Baja was a very good exercise! We could get a taste of everything. On Friday, we turned over, sometimes we had to drive blind because of the whirled up dust and the blinding sunshine, this morning one of our opponents ran into our car from behind, we caught up with cars and overtook some, and in the end, our front right undercarriage was inexplicably broken. Of course, we are a bit disappointed that we could not reach the finish, but hopefully we are done with bad luck for a while. I would like to thank my codriver, Zoltán Hegedus, for joining me in this adventure, I think the atmosphere in the car was quite good, so I hope he will join battle with me next time as well!

Own car at the Hungarian Baja August 21st 2009, Vál, Hungary Hungarian Baja, Preliminary
Erik Korda lines up at the final heat of the Off-Road Championship with the same Nissan Pickup as at the earlier races this year with the only exception that this time he is not the renter, but the owner of the car.
While the world of rally is following the Czech Barum Rally these days, cross-country rally fans are concentrating on Hungary. This is the second time that the Hungarian Baja is part of the FIA Baja World Cup series, and the field gathering around Veszprém is just as strong as last year. We do not really have to introduce Krysztof Holowczyc, the Polish driver, who has already proved his talent both in rally and off-road rally circles, since he became European rally champion and overall sixth at his country's world championship heat this year, while he finished as overall fifth at this year's Dakar.
Korda Racing starts the race with a considerable team. Beside Erik Korda and György Tóth there will be two other Nissan duos joining battle in the team colors: Zoltán Apáthy and Zoltán Morvai line up with a Petrol Engine Pickup as well, while after the short introduction in Gyula Pál Lónyai takes the field with the diesel Plateau. Beside the three cars, there is a quad driver in the team too: László Fekete, aka Schwarz, tries his luck with a E-ATV KTM.
Erik Korda: - This will be our first off-road race after a long time, where we line up with our own car. Since in rally sport it is still hard to predict the future, we decided to reinforce our position in the off-road division. We definitely wanted to participate at the Hungarian Baja with our own car, and from the many different options we finally chose Technosport's well-known Nissan. The arising question might be, why we came up with this decision at the last heat of the championship, and the answer is quite simple: the season does not finish for us with this heat in Veszprém, as we would still like to line up at other races this year.
- Although we are not the number one favorites of the championship, it is still an assuring feeling that we might even become champions at the final heat. However, we do not really care about that, the only thing we are concentrating at is to accomplish the tracks in the shortest time possible. Our situation is better in so far that we can only win here, since it is quite unimportant whether we become fourth or fifth at the end of the year. The others have more to loose.

Victory on the first day! August 21st 2009, Veszprém, Hungary Hungarian Baja, Prolog
Erik Korda and György Tóth accomplished the Friday stage of the Hungarian Baja on the overall first Hungarian Championship position and on the overall third place in the international evaluation.
On the first race day, the international field of the Hungarian Baja was awaited by a fifty-kilometer stage. Since the Saturday start positions were decided by the results of the Friday selective, the drivers lined up at the start of the warming-up section with the appropriate seriousness. As for the Hungarian Championship field, the Korda Racing duo, Erik Korda and György Tóth accomplished the track within the shortest time, getting ahead of the Zapletal - Oulednicek and the Szalay - Bunkóczi duo.
Zoltán Apáthy and Zoltán Morvai were satisfied with their Friday results, since the Barna TR duo can wait for the next racing day from the second position of the Non-Baja category. On the other hand, the Pál Lónyai - Zoltán Hegedus duo could not finish the opening section. The guys' Diesel Nissan turned on its side in the middle of the track, but apart from a smaller penalty they may continue the race tomorrow.
Erik Korda: - I am very happy that we gained victory at the opening section! Although we had the feeling that our time was quite good, we caught up with a quad driver in the middle of the track, and not much before the finish, we had to drive in the dust cloud whirled up by Laci Palik, so we were a bit surprised when we realized that we could secure ourselves a place on the winner's stand in the international field. However, we should not draw far-reaching conclusions from this result, since the real battle will take place tomorrow! The only advantage we might have is that we can start the day from the third position. We will do our best and we will see in the end what it was enough for.
Pál Lónyai: - Unfortunately, we were not able to accomplish today's track, but this time we were more fortunate than in Gyula, since tomorrow we can continue the race. After a long straight section we slipped a little, and even though I tried to turn the car, there was a bump which turned us over. The car did not suffer much from the accident, and since it took us ten minutes to turn it back, the day was over for us. However, we are still enthusiastic and continue the battle tomorrow.

Winner's stand position secured August 2st 2009, Pécs, Hungary Allianz Rally, 2nd day
The Korda Racing Subaru Impreza WRC could secure itself a place on the winner's stand of the Hungarian National Rally Championship's fifth race. The team's 2003 model year car and its crew, Tibor Érdi Junior and Attila Rubóczky ran home as overall third at the Allianz Rally.
This is the third time this season that the Korda Racing Subaru WRC helped Tibor Érdi Junior to get hold of the overall third place. This time, however, is of greater significance than the earlier ones, since Tibi managed to repeat his best result this year with the older, the 2003 model year Impreza. It should also not be forgotten that Attila Rubóczky, who took over for Zoli Csöko this weekend, had the chance to gather important experiences while taking hold of the first winner's stand positions in his life.
Beside the Subarus, there were three duos representing the Korda Racing Junior Team at the Allianz Rally. The H-group duo, Róbert Kiss and Zoltán Répás, were confidently holding the group's third position until the rally's last but one speed leg, where they were forced to give up the battle because of the Lada VFTS's technical problems. There were two Korda Racing Junior Team duos fighting in the Rallye2 F-group: The EVO VIII Mitsubishi's crew, Tibor Vavika and Kornél Baumhakl, fell back on the second place because of a 20-second penalty, while Árpád Stepán - also know as Taxi Driver - and his navigator, Miklós Lovay got hold of the F-group's seventh and the F1 category's fourth position.
Erik Korda: - Fortunately, this has been a much more relaxed and joyful day for us. Tibi finished a sober race with the 2003 model year car, mainly because the third place had already been secured the day before, since the other duos were a minute before and behind us. The car was faultless, just like yesterday, so Tibi was completely satisfied and told us that he had enjoyed driving it all the way through, from the beginning.
- It is very important for us that we could secure ourselves a place on the winner's podium at every five heat of this year's championship, because this is the biggest acknowledgement of our work.
- This third place did the whole team a lot of good, especially after yesterday's events, since loosing our new car was a great shock to all of us. We still do not know how, but we would like to get back to the daily routine as it was two days ago. It will not be easy, and it seems that we will not be able to keep much from Tomi's car, but tomorrow the guys will take the wreck to pieces, we will send its main parts to Prodrive. After that, we will see whether it is worth to rebuild it into a new cabin, or if we should rather buy a new car. We are determined to recover from this, too, and if we have to toil and moil, that is exactly what we are going to do!

Being watched from above August 1st 2009, Pécs, Hungary Allianz Rally, 1st day
Tamás Turi and Imre Tóth had a terrible accident during the Saturday race of the Allianz Rally, but miraculously, the duo left the Subaru that had been crashed beyond recognition almost unharmed.
Tamás and Imre met the accident during the third speed leg of the Allianz Rally, when they ran against a tree at 170 km/h. After the crash, Tamás Turi was brought to hospital by the ambulance, but he was released after a short medical check-up. The Subaru Impreza was practically destroyed in the accident, but its safety features definitely proved to be excellent, since the racing duo could get out of the wrecked car almost unharmed.
On the other hand, Tibor Érdi Jr. and Attila Rubóczky, the crew of the other Korda Racing Subaru Impreza WRC, could call it a perfect Saturday. After tackling the day in a self-confident, joyful manner, the younger Érdi and co can wait for the start of the rally's final day with a significant advantage from the third position.
Erik Korda: - When I first saw the car wreck on a picture I already knew that Tomi and Imi were not hurt, but looking at the photo this fact was hard to believe. I do not know whether it was unbelievable luck or providence that they got away with only a few scratches, but the most important thing is that they are both OK! We do not know much about the circumstances of the accident, but according to the computer data the car's left rear door hit the tree at 170, which whirled the car around so that they were stopped by another tree.
- We cannot estimate the exact extent of the damage right now, but it is clear that the car has seen better times. We will definitely need a new cabin, which seems to be impossible to find at the moment, and to build a new one would take about 4-6 weeks. By the end of next week, we will have estimated the breakage so that we can decide how to move on.
- Fortunately, Tibi Érdi and co have accomplished a great deal today, as they ran home third in the evening. The bronze medal is not at stake, since their chasers have already fallen back, while the ones ahead of them managed to run away, but tomorrow there are still four tracks left and we would like to keep the third place on the winner's podium.
